I wished I could stop receiving email from "enter name here". Well there is a way. With Postini, our Junk Email Filter software you can block certain people from sending email to you. You can also allow certain user to send email to you, incase certain users are being blocked.
Here are the steps to get you to your Approve and Block Sender settings
- Log in to Postini
- Click on My Settings (top right hand corner)
- Junk Settings
- Click on Approve Senders (to add people that are allow to send email to you) or
- Click on Block Senders (to block people from sending to you)
After following the steps above to get to the Approve Senders page you will see 3 distinct area, Approved Senders, Approved Domains, Approved Mailing List.
Approved Senders is where you would enter in a persons email address that you want to receive email from.
Sometimes due to the subject or content of the email, Postini might categorize it a certain way and in turn block that email.
The Approved Domains is similar to to Approved Sender but you only have to put in the domain part of the email address, everything after the @ symbol and click on "Update Approved Domains". The bad thing about using Approved Domains is that if you approve let's say gmail.com, then anyone, even spammers that have a gmail.com email address will get through the spam filters.
For your protection and to prevent any hassle that you might incurr, we suggest you only use the Approved Senders list to allow people to send to you.
After following the steps above to get to the Block Senders page you will see 2 areas, Blocked Senders and Blocked Domains. These work the same way that the Approved Senders settings work.
To block a specific domain, simple enter in their email domain, everything after the @ symbol, and click on "Update Blocked Domains"
Keep in mind, the same thing goes for the Specific Domain. If you block gmail.com, then all email coming from that domain will be blocked. Unless it is a non standard domain, we suggest you first use the Blocked Senders area.
