IT, along with normal support responsibilities, is engaged in upgrade and enhancement projects. Information about these projects is available here.
Project Highlights for Summer 2010
Given the large backlog of projects and the campus growth, Information Technology has been approved for two additional positions. Focus this summer will be on the hiring and training of an application programmer, server administrator, and replacement for our database programmer. IT will use consultants whenever feasible to fill the gaps in expertise.

PowerCAMPUS 7.3 and Self-Service – Discovery, adjustments and fixes from the earlier upgrade and planning for an additional upgrade to 7.3. Coaches will be set up in Self-Service and PowerCAMPUS for recruit and student tracking.

Learning Commons (LSTA Grant) Phase III – Completion of the grant. New applications and an upgrade to the server, Alexandria.

Office 2007 for Administrative Offices – Deploy Office 2007 to Administrative offices and provide training in MS Publisher.

System Security – Modifications and enhancements to the network configuration and authentication services. Additional security and monitoring of the network will be added.

Deployment of New Images and Desktop Virtualization– New computer lab and classroom images will be set up and the establishment of desktop virtualization in these spaces for improved flexibility and response.

Print Management – Investigation and implementation of print management and control for students. This will monitor and limit student printing.

Turnitin Software – New service for plagiarism controls will be setup.

Computer Replacements – Phase I on the year-long replacement of computers, printers, and servers that are 5 years old.

Local Phone Service – Service and price comparisons and new contract for local dial tone services.

Employee separations, New hires and Office Space – Work with departments on the transition and orientation of new employees.

New Multimedia Classrooms, Classroom Upgrades, and New Classrooms – Additional classrooms in the Science building and Administration building will be upgraded for multimedia. Several existing multimedia classrooms will have speaker upgrades. Classrooms (no technology) will be set up in the Mercedes Building.
