Computer viruses and other forms of malicious software, collectively known as ‘malware,’ pose a significant threat in our heavily used, high-volume labs. To mitigate this risk, IT has implemented various precautions across campus computers. Virus detection and removal software is installed in all labs and multimedia classrooms. The Academic Computing Subcommittee oversees the configuration of labs, including software installation and workstation setup. They determine the software to be installed and the configurations to be implemented. IT executes the directives of the Academic Computing Subcommittee.

To request changes in the configuration of a lab, including software installation, please contact the Academic Computing Subcommittee. This committee comprises elected representatives from each division, ensuring comprehensive oversight of all lab-related requests. Their role includes assessing the impact of changes across sponsoring areas and facilitating necessary approvals. The Academic Computing Subcommittee serves as the central authority for managing these requests, empowering IT to implement approved changes effectively.
